Professional Assistance Referral Service and Post-traumatic Event Counselling Service
Included with all our LTD plans and available to both managers and union representatives (a Posaction®Plus service provided by Solareh)
Both of these services are available to union representatives and managers to assist them is their roles and are complimentary to the Coachtel Service.
Professional Assistance Referral Service
- A prevention tool for managers and union representatives, so they can offer professional assistance to employees or co-workers who are at risk of being absent from work for an extended period of time.
- Through this referral service, employees insured by an OJTBF group LTD plan have access to up to twelve hours of psychosocial counselling, free of charge.
- Whether the person is at work or absent from work, the objective is to provide the necessary assistance to help the person return to good health and either return to work as soon as possible or avoid taking time off due to illness.
- Individuals referred by their union representative or manager have telephone access to this service at all times AND up to 12 hours of face-to-face couselling per certifcate per year.
- There is no charge for this service: for the employer, the union or the employee.
- The service is confidential.
Examples of situations that may require a referral:
Someone is:
- having personal problems that are affecting his or her physical or mental presence at work.
- is showing less and less interest in his or her work and his or her performance is down.
- continually showing hostile attitude towards other employees or his or her supervisor.
- often absent without a valid reason.
- absent for a while and is not showing any interest in returning to work.
Post-traumatic Event Counselling
- This service can be used for an unexpected, sudden and unforeseeable event experienced or witnessed by one or more employees on the workplace premises;
- An event that could endanger the lives of the individuals or seriously affect their well-being;
- An event that could result in decreased job performance, personal grief and fear, an increase in occupational injuries or increased absenteeism.
- This service helps union representatives or managers to adequately handle the very human reactions following traumatic events such as an armed robbery, suicide, homicide, death threats, major occupational injury, serious altercation, etc.
- When a call of this nature is received, the counsellor analyzes the potential reactions and then determines whether the counselling will be done on-site or by phone. This free service ends once the counsellor feels that the event has been effectively managed.
